20-30 without Mana
10-25 adjacent targets
+13%-23% Strength (unpowered)
30-60 Powered shockwave
5 * 10 shockwave aftereffect
|Ammunition||Blue Mana 2-4 per Shot|
|Appears in||Hexen II|
The sword allows the Paladin's close combat attacks to be enhanced by using Blue Mana. The weapon is still effective when mana runs out, but will provide no benefit beyond the basic damage.
When it strikes an enemy, the vorpal sword will also hit other nearby creatures and inflict minor damage.
When combined with the Tome of Power, not only does the potential damage increase, but it sends out a shockwave giving the Paladin a ranged weapon. However, it will not injure adjacent targets, and instead inflict damage through the shock effect.
- The Vorpal Sword is based on Lewis Carroll's poem Jabberwocky.
- The sword was intended to be able to deflect projectiles, although this was commented out.
- The tome of power will not create a shockwave if the Paladin has less than 4 mana. Despite this, there's checks in the code to perform a half-damage shockwave if the Paladin had less than 4 mana.
